Studio Policy 2024.

Trial lessons

·      New students are invited for a 15-min complimentary trial lesson prior to enrolment.

·      We will then assess student’s suitability and discuss the ongoing lessons with you.

Reservation of your personal timeslot

·      When enrolling for ongoing lessons you are reserving and committing to a specific lesson time each week.

·      That timeslot is reserved exclusively for you and cannot be filled on a casual basis if you are away.

·      Nonetheless, we understand that life happens, and will do our best to reschedule one lesson per student, per term for personal reasons (travel, illness etc), subject to availability.

·      Students who have additional absences, whether planned or unexpected, are still required to pay the full-term fee in order to hold their position to recommence lessons upon return.

Enrolment

·      All students are enrolled for weekly ongoing lessons (unless otherwise agreed) and require a minimum commitment of one term.

·      There are usually 8-12 weekly lessons scheduled per term.

·      Mid-term enrolments are possible dependent on availability and are billed for the remaining weeks in the term.

·      One term’s notice is required for cancellation of enrolment.

·      Ongoing enrolment may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of Developing Dancers Melbourne, in which case fees for unused lessons will be refunded.

Payment Policy

  • Accounts will be emailed at the end of the previous term and are payable by the 1st lesson of term.

  • Fees may be paid by Electronic Funds Transfer or through Stripe.

·      If you are experiencing financial difficulty, we will consider payment arrangements on an agreed schedule. Please make your request at least 7 business days prior to term commencement allowing for processing time of a written payment agreement.

·      Tuition fees are non-refundable.

Overdue Accounts

·      If fees are not paid by the due date, and no payment arrangement has been requested, lessons cannot be given. If a payment arrangement was entered into but not adhered to, no further lessons can be given.

·      To cover our administrative expenses associated with overdue accounts, $25 per week late fee will be added from the date of the first missed payment.

·      In the event that your overdue account remains unsettled, it may be referred to a collection agency and the account holder will be liable for all associated costs.

At the Lessons

·      Please arrive to lessons on time. Lesson cannot be extended due to late arrival.

·      Parents are welcome to wait in the area provided or to drop off and pick up students at the end of the lesson.

·      If waiting, please ensure that siblings are well supervised and quietly occupied.

·      Parents, please notify the teacher beforehand if you would like to sit in on a lesson or if you need time with the teacher to discuss student progress.

·      Parents please ensure students are picked up on time at the end of their lesson.

Cancellations / Missed Lessons

·      Video technology provides options for students to benefit from all scheduled lessons.  At any time, students may request to have their scheduled lesson online instead of face to face.

·       All scheduled lessons for the term are payable regardless of student attendance.

·      In extenuating circumstances, we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel & refund lessons as necessary.

Illness

·      If a student is unwell and unable to attend a lesson, please notify us. If this is their first missed lesson for the term, we will do our best to reschedule it subject to availability.

·      Please do not attend if feeling unwell. As a general guide, if students are not well enough to attend school/work, they should not attend dance lessons. Due to the close proximity of the dance teaching environment, please consider the health of other students and teachers particularly if the student has a viral illness that can be easily passed onto others.

School & Public Holidays

·      Lessons may be held on Public Holidays and this will be discussed with families term-by-term.

·      Ballet lessons may be available during holiday periods dependent on teacher availability. Please inquire within.

Teaching Studio

·       Developing Dancers Melbourne conducts lessons from a venue which is also a residential home. Access is restricted to the rooms specifically allocated for teaching, waiting and bathroom use. Please be considerate of personal privacy. Please do not park in driveways.

Supervision

·       We only provide supervision for students during their allocated lesson time. If students arrive onsite before their lesson time or stay onsite after their lesson time they are not the responsibility of Developing Dancers Melbourne. Students must be picked up immediately at the completion of their lesson time.

·       If a student has any pre-existing medical conditions, please let us know the details in writing.

·       In the case of emergency, any ambulance or medical expenses incurred are payable by the student/parent.

Teachers

·       If your usual teacher is away or sick we may occasionally provide a substitute teacher for lessons rather than have students miss lessons.
